The Springfield Armory, Inc. SA1 M60, semi-automatic rifle in 7.62×51mm was a limited-production semi-automatic version of the classic M60 belt-fed machine gun. Prior to the 1986 Hughes Amendment (aka the Firearms Owners' Protection Act - or FOPA), RIA was producing registered full auto M60s. Once the Hughes Amendment went into effect, Springfield Armory, Inc. created the semi-automatic SA1 as a way to make use of the leftover machine gun parts that could no longer be used to assemble civilian full auto examples of the M60. The new design converted the M60 to a closed bolt semi-automatic rifle, but it still feeds from the same M13 NATO metallic disintegrating links. This particular example is in the M60E3 configuration with a vertical foregrip handguard & it weighs in at a hefty 23-pounds. Condition: Excellent with 98% of the original parkerized finish overall showing light wear on the edges and high spots overall with some limited firing. The plastic buttstock and feed-tray cover are also excellent with minimal wear.
